Compare with other ticketing platforms
Meeteor separates platform and payment percentages clearly (1.9% + 2.9%). Many legacy providers bundle fees into higher total buyer charges. Figures for others are illustrative — always verify current terms on each provider's site.
| Platform | Typical buyer-facing model | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Meeteor | 4.8% variable (1.9% + 2.9%) + tiered flat ($1–$2) + $0.30 fixed | Fully itemized; the host chooses whether attendees pay service fees on top of the ticket or the host covers them from payout. |
| Large primary ticketing | Often high per-ticket & per-order fees (commonly cited in the low teens to 25%+ of face value in competitive markets) | Varies by venue, promoter, and rights deal. |
| Self-serve ticketing (general) | Often mid–high single digits to low double digits combined platform + payment, plus per-ticket charges | Structures differ; bundled "service" lines are common. |

1.Event Tickets (Standard)
Applies when an event does not have an active AD-vantage escrow.
| Fee Component | Rate | Who Pays (default) |
|---|---|---|
| Flat fee (tiered) | See tiers below | Customer |
| Platform percentage | 1.9% of ticket price | Customer |
| Stripe processing | 2.9% of ticket price | Customer |
| Stripe fixed fee | $0.30 per transaction | Customer |
Flat Fee Tiers
| Ticket Price (USD equivalent) | Flat Fee |
|---|---|
| Under $36 | $1.00 |
| $36 – $80 | $1.50 |
| Above $80 | $2.00 |
Tier thresholds are converted to the transaction currency before comparison. For example, if the ticket is in GBP, the $36 threshold becomes approximately £29 at the current rate.
Example — $50 Ticket (Customer Pays Fees)
Ticket price: $50.00 + Flat fee ($36–$80 tier): + $1.50 + Platform 1.9%: + $0.95 + Stripe 2.9%: + $1.45 + Stripe fixed: + $0.30 ──────────────────────────────────────────── Customer pays: $54.20 Host receives: $50.00
Example — $20 Ticket (Customer Pays Fees)
Ticket price: $20.00 + Flat fee (under $36 tier): + $1.00 + Platform 1.9%: + $0.38 + Stripe 2.9%: + $0.58 + Stripe fixed: + $0.30 ──────────────────────────────────────────── Customer pays: $22.26 Host receives: $20.00
Example — $100 Ticket (Host Bears Fees)
When the host opts to absorb service fees so the attendee only pays the ticket price:
Ticket price: $100.00 Customer pays: $100.00 Host deductions: Flat fee (above $80 tier): − $2.00 Platform 1.9%: − $1.90 Stripe 2.9%: − $2.90 Stripe fixed: − $0.30 ──────────────────────────────────────────── Host receives: $92.90
2.Event Tickets (AD-vantage Program)
Applies when the event has an active AD-vantage escrow (approved sponsorship funding). The flat fee is replaced by the AD-vantage fee, which is higher because it funds the sponsorship program.
| Fee Component | Rate | Default Payer |
|---|---|---|
| AD-vantage fee | $6.00 per ticket (base $2 × factor 3) | Customer |
| Platform percentage | 1.9% of ticket price | Customer |
| Stripe processing | 2.9% of ticket price | Host |
| Stripe fixed fee | $0.30 per transaction | Host |
The AD-vantage fee replaces the standard flat fee — they are never stacked. The split (who pays what) is configured centrally and can be adjusted. Current defaults:
- AD-vantage fee → Customer
- Platform percentage → Customer
- Stripe percentage → Host
- Stripe fixed fee → Host
Example — $50 AD-vantage Ticket
Ticket price: $50.00 + AD-vantage fee: + $6.00 + Platform 1.9%: + $0.95 ──────────────────────────────────────────── Customer pays: $56.95 Host deductions (from $50 base): Stripe 2.9%: − $1.45 Stripe fixed: − $0.30 ──────────────────────────────────────────── Host receives: $48.25
AD-vantage Qualification Requirements
| Requirement | Threshold |
|---|---|
| Minimum event capacity | 1,000 participants |
| Minimum ticket price | $30.00 (USD equivalent) |
| Minimum approved funding | $1,000 |
| Maximum approved funding | $10,000 |
AD-vantage Withdrawal Schedule
| Milestone | Unlocks |
|---|---|
| 30% of tickets sold | First 50% of approved amount |
| Remaining | Available as sales continue |
3.Competitions (Event-linked)
Competitions are linked to events and have their own fee structure with a withholding component.
| Fee Component | Rate | Who Pays (default) |
|---|---|---|
| Flat fee | $2.00 per entry | Customer |
| Platform percentage | 20% of entry fee | Customer |
| Stripe processing | 2.9% of entry fee | Customer |
| Stripe fixed fee | $0.30 per transaction | Customer |
| Tax | 8.5% (geo-based default) | Customer |
| Withholding | 30% of host earnings (after fees & tax) | Retained from host |
Example — $25 Competition Entry (Customer Pays Fees)
Entry fee: $25.00 + Flat fee: + $2.00 + Platform 20%: + $5.00 + Stripe 2.9%: + $0.73 + Stripe fixed: + $0.30 + Tax 8.5%: + $2.13 ──────────────────────────────────────────── Customer pays: $35.16 Host earnings before withholding: $25.00 Withholding 30%: − $7.50 ──────────────────────────────────────────── Host receives: $17.50
Withholding is deducted from the host's earnings after platform fees and tax. It is retained by the platform and is not refundable.
4.Point of Sale (POS)
For in-person ticket sales via Tap-to-Pay or manual card entry at the door.
| Fee Component | Rate |
|---|---|
| Flat fee | $3.00 per transaction |
| Platform percentage | 10% of ticket price |
| Stripe processing | 2.9% of ticket price |
| Stripe fixed fee | $0.30 per transaction |
| Tax | 8.5% (geo-based default) |
5.Sponsor Products
Physical or digital products sold through event sponsor storefronts.
| Fee Component | Rate |
|---|---|
| Flat fee | $3.00 per order |
| Platform percentage | 3% of product price |
| Stripe processing | 2.9% of product price |
| Stripe fixed fee | $0.30 per transaction |
| Tax | 8.5% (geo-based default) |
6.Tax
Tax behavior differs by category:
| Category | Tax Behavior |
|---|---|
| Tickets | No default tax. Tax applies only when the host sets an explicit tax rate on the event. When set, collected tax is included in what the host earns on the sale. |
| Competitions | 8.5% default (geo-based lookup). |
| POS | 8.5% default (geo-based lookup). |
| Products | 8.5% default (geo-based lookup). |
| Views | 3.5% default. |
| Tokens | 8.5% default (geo-based lookup). |
When a host sets a custom tax rate on the event, it overrides any default or location-based rate for that event's tickets. The tax collected is passed through to the host as part of their earnings on the sale.
For all non-ticket categories, tax is resolved via geo-based lookup (country → state). US state-specific rates apply when available; otherwise the category default is used.
Tax is charged to the customer (added on top of the ticket price) when tax is included in the customer's checkout total — which is the current default.
7.Who Pays What
The host chooses whether attendees pay service fees on top of the ticket price or whether the host covers those fees from their payout.
Customer pays the fees (default)
All platform fees (flat fee, platform %, Stripe fees) are added on top of the ticket price. The customer sees a higher total, but the host receives the full ticket price.
Host pays the fees
The customer pays only the base ticket price (plus tax if applicable). All platform fees are deducted from the host's earnings.
AD-vantage Events
AD-vantage events follow the AD-vantage fee split below instead of the standard “who pays fees” choice:
| Component | Paid By |
|---|---|
| AD-vantage fee ($6) | Customer |
| Platform percentage (1.9%) | Customer |
| Stripe percentage (2.9%) | Host |
| Stripe fixed ($0.30) | Host |
8.AD-vantage Sponsor Credits
When a ticket sale is attributed to a sponsor (the buyer watched a sponsor video before purchasing), the event host earns AD-vantage credits. Credits are tiered based on the average ticket price in USD and converted to the transaction currency before being awarded.
| Average Ticket Price (USD) | Credit Per Sponsor Attribution |
|---|---|
| Under $20 | $0.02 |
| $20 – $36 | $0.10 |
| $36 – $50 | $0.30 |
| $50 – $100 | $0.50 |
| $100+ | $1.00 |
Credits accumulate in the host's AD-vantage account across all events. Maximum withdrawal: $200.00.
The credit amount is converted from USD to the sale's transaction currency at the current exchange rate before being deposited.
9.Custom Overrides
Event hosts or platform admins can set custom service charges at the event, person, or contest level. You can override:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Flat fee amount | Replace the flat fee with a custom dollar amount. |
| Tiered flat fees | Replace the entire tiered flat-fee structure with your own. |
| Platform percentage | Replace the platform percentage. |
| Minimum fee floor | Replace the minimum fee floor. |
| Withholding | Replace the withholding percentage. |
Custom overrides never change Stripe's own processing fees — those always follow the platform's global payment-processing rules.
Overrides are resolved in priority order: event-level → user-level → contest-level → global defaults.
